Accuracy and accountability
How corrections are handled
- Minor spelling, punctuation, grammar or formatting changes may be made without a note when they do not alter meaning.
- A material factual error receives a visible correction note explaining what was wrong and what was changed.
- The correction should be placed where readers can reasonably find it, generally near the top or bottom of the article.
- When a headline, chart, image caption or social post contains the error, that element should also be corrected when possible.
Correction format
Correction — [Date]: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated ______. The article has been updated to reflect ______.
Updates are different from corrections
An update adds important new information to an article that was accurate when published. It does not replace a correction when the earlier version contained an error.
Update — [Date]: This article has been updated to include ______.
Report a suspected error
Email in**@************te.com with the article link, the statement you believe is incorrect and supporting documentation or an authoritative source when available. Submitting a request does not guarantee that a correction will be made, but every specific, good-faith report will be reviewed.
